Ulan Bator, also known as Ulanbaatar, is the capital city of Mongolia. It is administered separately as an independent municipality. Being the largest city, a large percentage of the population lives in it. There are a number of museums displaying the culture and history of Mongolia.

Shopping Spree
State Department Store - a huge department store/supermarket where most if not all of the necessary things you need can be found. Some traditional items and souvenirs can also be found here.
Location: Main Avenue
Black Market - a huge market where you can find almost anything that can be sold. Despite its name, it is not really a black market. It is a huge outdoor market where you can find interesting items from animal products like cashmere to cheap imitations of some foreign brands. There are many cheap but good products and discounting may be possible. Pickpocketing is notorious in this area and seems to be done by professionals. It is highly advisable to keep watch for your belongings.
