Basic Information

  • Sights to see - Along this 1 kilometer walk are several temples and shrines. The path may sometimes be full of tourists or sights distracted by parked cars. It is good to wander off-road sometimes and search for other temples and eateries(which is cheaper than those nearby. There are two major spots at both ends of this Walk.
  • Ginkakuji or the Silver Pavilion
  • Nanzenji Temple
  • Time to visit- Early morning or afternoon. Later than 5 pm will give you less chances to visit some temples as they close to public by then.
  • Best season: Spring-that's when the cherry trees are in blossom
