Shopping Spree
Shin Lin Night Market one of the oldest and largest markets of Taipei which starts to come alive in the afternoon and goes to service the people till early morning of each day. On sale are clothes, shoes, jewelries, souvenirs, tools and even pets. There are also plenty of restaurants for those who will get tired and hungry after their shopping. It is located near the downtown, at the address, Chung Shan North Road, Section 4, Taipei 111 Taiwan.
Weekend Jade Market - this is where jade accessories are sold in abundance. Various carved pendants can be made from cords of your choice and be used as bracelets or necklaces. There are also souvenir Buddhist beaded bracelets. Address is at Corner Chien Kuo & Renai Roads, Taipei 106 Taiwan. Shops open at 10 a.m. - 6p.m. Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
Taipei 101- It is not only an architectural marvel but also homes to several various shops and and fashion boutiques. Address is at 3/F 45 Shi Fu Road, Taipei ADD G3/F Taiwan.
Ximending - the trendiest shopping district where most young ones search for the latest fashion wear and accessories.
Wu Fen Pu - a woman shopper's zone with many clothes sold for wholesale. Fashions are varied as they come from various countries like Korea and Japan. Location is opposite the Songshan Railway Station.
Core Pacific Living Mall - astounding architecture on the outside, shopping, cinema, and a food mall inside. The building looks great at night when all the lights are lit up. Address is at 138, Sec. 4, Ba-de Road.

Five and Four Stars Hotel
Shangri La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel - Has a very good location in the business district of the city and is near entertainment and shopping centers. Address is at Taipei Metro no 201 tun hwa S Rd. Taipei 106 Taiwan.
Grand Formosa Regent Taipei - although the place is synonymous to luxury, the service is not so upscale due to constant staff turnover. Address is at 41 Chung Shan North Rd , Section 2 Taipei 104 Taiwan.
Le Suites Taipei Da-an - Strategic location in downtown area close to shopping centers and entertainment. Address is at 135 da an Rd sec 1

Two and Three Stars
Hondo Hotel Location, room space and price are good. The only missing is a pool but if you can do without it, this hotel will be sufficient. Address is at 55-1 Nan-King East Road, Section 4, Taipei 104 Taiwan.
Grand Forward Hotel - fabulous service from staff who look well after their guests. Although can't be really said as pampering, they try their best to give utmost comfort. Location is near Fuzhong metro station on blue line of Taipei's metro.
Backpackers and Budget Lodge
Hostel of Taiwanmex - Price, cleanliness, and location are the forte of this hostel. Address is at 2-F NO.18-1, Taipei Taiwan.
Rainbow Hotel - although three star, the amenities are not compromised and well worth your money. It is located at a corner street in Ximending with the MRT station, shops and some karaoke bars at walking distance.
Dining Places
Cha - restaurant serving local cuisine a an about average place. Their specialty is green tea. Address is at 1F,NO.123,Jingye 3rd Rd.,Taipei in Dazhi Store.
Din Tai Feng - serves local food in a very simple and laidback yet very clean ambiance. Can be crowded with sometimes it is quite hard to find a table but it only goes to show how good their food is. Address is at 194 Xin Yi Road, Section 2, Taipei 106 Taiwan. They also have an outlet in Soho shopping mall. Tel. +886 2 2321 8928.
Mai-ji Hongkong Tea Shop a Chinese Dim sum that also draws crowds so a bit of patience is required while waiting in queue for a seat. Address is 19 Nong Lane190 Duenhua S. Rd.
Street foodstalls - typically Asian, various cheap street food can be bought in Shinling Night Market and along street corners Taipei.
