- Taichung City Hall- considered as the most elaborate building of the Japanese occupation, this wood and brick structure also boasts of its columns, roof and dome. The building also encompasses a courtyard.
- Chisan Gate - name means Accumulated Good Gate which encourages generations to do good and help others. It had been built in 1924 south from the original 1897 earthen gate and withstood several decades. Banyan trees provide foliage for those who wisg to relax near the gate.
- Hiking trails of Daken - a total of eight trails through Taichung's forested hills. The difficult level are in trail 1-5 while 6-8 are easier. However, they are not advisable for children. All trails offer a great view of the city and a good hiking experience. Maps are available from Taichung City Government Tourist Section at 97 MinQuan Road.

Feng Chia - located in the northern XiTun District adjacent to Fengchia University along FuXing and Fengjia Rds.
Zhong Hua - located along ZhongHua(JungHua) Rd. and GongYuan Rds., near Taichung Park.
Zhong Xiao - around the intersection of ZongXiao, Taichung, GuoGuang Rds. Food is the main item sold in this place.

Taichung Central - largest shopping center in the old Downtown area located on Fuxing Road.
First Square- located along ZhongZheng (Jung Jeng) Rd.near to Taichung Railroad Station.

Chung Yo Department Store Several fashion items of clothings and accessories are for sale as well as shoes, electronics and many more. It is located at the old Downtown area on SanMin St.
Sogo Department Store With 18 levels of shops selling signature products, teahouses, cafes, restaurants and a supermarket. It is located in center of te TaiZhong Rd. commercial district, corner of TaiZhongGang and MeiCun Rds.
Mitsukoshi Department Store Has various shops selling branded products and retailers of FNAC electronics, books, music and movie stores. It is located in the 7th Redevelopment Zone, corner of taiZhongGang ang HuiHua Rds.
Idee Department Store -Targets women for customers as most on sale are cosmetics, fashionable clothes and apparels. Location is at the corner of HuiHua and ShiZheng Rd.
