Known as Venice in Asia, this city lies on the lower reaches of Yangtze River and along the shores of Lake Taihu in the province of Jiangsu, China. The city is dramatically enhanced by the beauty of its canals, gardens, pagodas, and stoned bridges. It is also famous for its silk production which has already become a historical industry.

Dong Wu Silk - has been into silk business for more than a century. Location is a walking distance from North Temple Pagoda, at 540 Renmin Lu.
Suzhou Silk Museum - gives one better insights about silk. They are known to have the Song Brocade not just a beautiful piece of cloth but it also is interwoven with history.
Guan Qian Street - one of the business streets in the city where you may buy fashionable clothing, meat and food products, and silverware.
Shi Quan Street - a busling street full of hotels, clubs, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Here you can find antiques, pottery, porcelain, paintings, fashionable wears and calligraphy.

- De Yue Lou - serves authentic Suzhou cuisine, an unbeatable 400 years of experience loved by many. Two outlets are found in Taijian Nong, #43 and #8. Open hours is 11a.m.- 2p.m. and 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Buses # 1, 2, 8, 9, 32, 38, 68, 102 and 103 and tourist special route #4 can get you there.
- Yang Yang - specialty is dumpling although they serve good vegetable and meat dishes at inexpensive prices. Location is at the same street as Suzhou University.
- Quiantang Teahouse - by the name, specialty of the house is tea. However, their "complimentary" snacks are not to be missed. You pay for drinks and a cover charge but the snacks comes free from a buffet table. It is located in the south of the old city, near Master of the Nets Garden.
- Fastfood chains - When tired or sick of Chinese food, KFC and Pizzahut are around the city to your rescue.
