Even in the early years, Koreans have seen the practicality of transporting passengers and commodities by train. At present, the nation's capital, Seoul, is served by a train between 15-60 minutes interval and connects it to all the major cities of South Korea. Although the country has several excellent networks in existence, the government still continues to spend much on it for improvement.

Current classes of service:

1. Korean Train Express (KTX) - most expensive of the services but the fastest, even faster than an airplane and check in is more efficient. However, it has fewer than stops than other trains.

2. Saemaul-ho (New Village) - before the use of the KTX, this was the fastest railway service. The trains are notable for comfortable seats and the absence of standing passengers. It stops at more station compared to KTX although they are traveling on the same line.

3. Mugunghwa-ho (Rose of Sharon) - stops at more stations compared to the two previously mentioned but not all. This type of service accepts reservations for seats.

4. Commuters - just by the name you can tell that this is for common passengers. It is the cheapest of all railway service and the slowest. However, it stops at all stations and offers no reserved seating.
