Si Phan Don

Si Phan Don is a scenic region of Laos located down south. It literally translates to "Four Thousand Islands", it is so named because of the many islands and islets present in the area, surrounded by the Mekong river as it breaks into a number of channels. It is popular to tourists for the breathtaking views it offers. There is also a small population of Irrawaddy Dolphins in the area. There are three major islands - Don Khong, Don Khon and Don Det. Don Khong is the largest island, it is also the most developed. These islands all cater to tourists.
