The Trans-Mongolian Railway goes from Russia through Ulan Bator, Mongolia to China. It connects to the Trans-Siberian Railway at Ulan Ude, Russia and goes as far as Jining in China. Here are some of the major stops in Mongolia:

  • Sukhbaatar
  • Darkhan
  • Choir
  • Sainshand
  • Zamyn-Uud

A major stop-over should also be expected at Erenhot(China border) due to some technical differences between the railways used in China from the ones existing in Mongolia and Russia. If you plan to continue on to China, the crossing of the border and changing of the wheels for the train may cause an inconvenience.
