A southern city of Laos, Pakse is situated on the junction of two rivers, the Mekong river and Xedone river. It is a place for magnificent river views. It is also a market town and one of the places in Laos for textile products. Tourists use the city as a jump-off point for the attractions around the area.

Shopping Spree

The Pakse shopping center located at the town center are filled with shops that sell various items from fresh fruits and vegetables to local crafts and necessary everyday things. Prices can be rather cheap for foreigners and bargaining may be practiced.

Backpackers and Budget Lodge

  • Sabaidy 2 Guesthouse - possibly the only dorm in Pakse. It is known in the area and not a problem to find. An excellent place to gather tips about activities in the area

Dining Places

  • Sedone Restaurant - a restaurant serving Lao and Thai food. It is located near the Pakse Hotel.


Many dining places can be found at Road 13(between Champasak Hotel and Se Don River) and nearby streets. They serve a wide variety of food, and different cuisines at that.
