  • Kaohsiung Astronomical Museum - promotes the teaching of astronomical science. It has various exhibitions concentrated on certain themes. Some extraordinary things to see are the outer space bathroom scale, a 5-meter diameter sky screen, a 300mm reflector telescope which costs about NTD 6 million, and a 2 meter diameter constellation map. There are also various interactive computer games for children. Located in the Kangho Elementary School at 300, Pingho South Rd., Hsiaokang Dist., Kaohsiung City. Only group bookings are allowed.   • Kaohsiung Hakka Culture Museum - the largest museum with the theme on Hakka Culture. Various artifacts and traditional items are on display. Cultural activities are scheduled every now and then to bring awareness on Hakka traditions. The building itself is a typical structure of Mainland China. It is located inside Sanmin Park 2 and can be reached by riding bus # 24, 92, 301.


  • Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts - a home of local arts with plenty of artifacts that give insights on the unique arts of Taiwan. Aside from the priceless treasures inside the museum, there are also some amazing sculptures on the adjacent park. Address is at 20, Meishukuan Rd., Kushan Dist., Kaohsiung City.


  • Kaohsiung Museum of History - safe-keeps several valuable historical records. The building itself is a historical figure, being the renovated Kaohsiung City Government building. It is located near the Love River at the following address: 272, Chungcheng 4th Rd., Yencheng Dist., Kaohsiung City.



  • National Science & Technology Museum one of the three major science museum of Taiwan and the largest of its type in Asia. It took 11 years to plan and prepare NSTM and was finally done by 1997 with geometric forms as building structure implying modernity and non traditional development. It is located in 720, Chiuju 1st Rd., Sanmin Dist., Kaohsiung City.


  • Seashell Museum - houses more than 2000 species of shells which were donated to the city government by a shell collector, Huang Kelaing. Inside the museum are well labeled shells with corresponding details and the world's largest clam as the centerpiece. The building where the Seashell Museum is located.
