Beaches and Resorts
Beaches of the south are often coupled with other natural attractions of forests, falls, white water rafting and trekking trails. because it has not been exploited much by conquerors due to the courageous resistance of the former moro occupants, many areas are still untouched by progress.
Camiguin Island - still isolated and not too touristy. Mostly visited by locals especially during Holy Week for those who wish to contemplate the passion of Christ in solitude and yet relaxing environment. Tent pitching or camping is common along the shoreline of some resorts for a minimal cost. Budget lodges are also available although offering on the basics. Can be reached by ferries from Cagayan de Oro's port. Island also has cold falls and hot springs.
Samal Island, Davao - Paradise Island and the Pearl Farm are quite the famous resort. A/c accommodations are available, but camping on some of the shoreline is also allowed. Ferry/boat ride from mainland is relatively cheap. Taxis can be ridden from airport to Wharf to board the ferries.
Siargao Island, Surigao - It has become known as surf capital of the Philippines because of the high waves.Several islands are nearby for those who like to island hop. Some other attractions are Magpopongko Rock Pools, Suhotan caves and Taktak Falls.
