The Malé Port is the main port of Maldives. There are a number of ports in Maldives but most are only regional ports.

• By Air

There are companies in Maldives that offer chartered flights with some amphibious aircraft. Air taxis are excellent for scenic flights and island hopping, tours with these planes are also available with some hotels.

• By Water

Small boats called dhonis are used for travel within the atoll waters. Vedis are larger and are used for inter-island transportation. Besides these traditional modes of transportation, motors are now used in boats and speedboats are also used for transportation provided by resorts upon arrival of guests. Ferries and charter boats are also available.

There are no railways in Maldives since it is an island nation composed of atolls.
