Railways

Extends from Singapore through the major cities of the Peninsular Area to Thailand. Airconditioned first class coaches and second class coaches both offer sleeping beds.

Malaysia's geographical location makes majority of its cities accesible by ports or harbors. There are also several rivers in the mainland and in Sabah and Sarawak of which some are served by express boats.

Railways

According to the different purposes they serve, there are four rail transport in Malaysia. The heavy rails or high speed rail is often used for intercity passengers and freight transport. Light Rail Transport is used for urban public transport of passengers and in some occasions, between airport buildings. There is a monorail for public transport in KL while a funicular railway line exists in Penang.

Buses

Together with railways, they are the choice of transport for interstate travel. Through out Malaysia, there are 49,935 kms of paved road including expressways, which makes travel by land although a bit time consuming also a good option in viewing the sorrounding.


Cycle rickshaws, Taxis, Car rentals

These are the usual mode of transportation in the cities and towns. However, cars here are right-hand drive and are driven on the left-hand side of the road. Trishaws or rickshaws are slowly being phased out in the cities but they remain to serve the less urban areas.
