Lotus Lake Scenery

A conglomeration of temples and pagodas set around a picturesque lake that is sometimes full of lotus bloom. There is also some historic ruins although only walls and gates remain.


Sights to See

  • Spring and Autumn Pavilions two great structures dating back to 1951. These were constructed in dedication to the God of War, Kuan Kung. A statue of the Goddess of Mercy, Kuanyin, riding on a dragon, was made in front of the pavilions depicting an old legend.
  • Dragon and Tiger Pagodas -located south of the pavilions. They were built with the belief of turning bad luck into a good one.Several Chinese paintings can be seen in it.
  • Confucius Temple - located at the north side of the lake.
  • Lotus Lake Train Station - erected in an amusement park with some 60+ year old trains o display which enlivens memories of most locals visiting the place.
  • Chiming Hall
  • Lung Hu Tower

Getting there: By bus: (from Kaohsiung Airport) City bus 304

(from city proper) take Bus # 6, 17, 29, 31,38, or 219 and get off at Zuoying North stop.
(from Kaohsiung Railway Station) take bus # 301
by train: get down Zouying Station and walk a short distance
