Sights to see

Aside form the beautiful shorelines of Lombok, several tourist spots can be visited around town to kill boredom and enrich one's insights on Balinese culture.


Temple

  • Pura Meru - a Balinese temple located at the commercial center of Lombok
  • Batu Bolong Temple - a Balinese seaside cliff temple which offers not only a good view of the sea but of the sunset as well.
  • Pensong Hill - has a Buddhist monastery
  • Lingsar Temple- considered the holiest and most unique temple in Lombok


Villages

  • Suranadi Village - known for its bamboo handicrafts
  • Tamjung Luar Fishing Village - the largest fishing village around the area and offers a good encounter with locals
  • Sukarare Village- the weaving center of Lombok
  • Penujak - a pottery village
  • Getap Blacksmith Village
  • Kuta - a fisherman's village which also has beautiful shores


Waterfalls

  • Sendang Gile Waterfalls - northern side of west Lombok
  • Torean Waterfall - northern part of East Lombok


Others

  • Narmada- Summer Palace of former Balinese kings
  • Gili Island- famous as swimming and snorkeling sites.
  • Trekking Gunung Rinjani, Indonesia's highest volcano


Accommodations

Five and Four Stars

Novotel Coralia Lombok - architecture is very much local and traditional and yet they offer amenities beyond the basic. Location is quite secluded and far from other landmarks and airport.


Oberoi Lombok - Hotel is a bit isolated but as they offer much on their grounds, it won't be necessary to leave it. Prices can be a bit on the high end though especially for food. Location is at Medana Beach.


Quinci Villas - has a strategic location which makes popular sites in the city readily accessible. Good feedback has been given regarding their excellent service and the reasonable price. Location is at Senggigi/Mangsit Area.


Budget Hotels

Nusa Bunga Hotel Lombok


Kuta Indah Hotel Lombok - may be very cheap the fact there are no a/c in most rooms.

Dining Places

  • Senggigi Beach Restaurants - a great place to enjoy inexpensive food while enjoying the beach view and the sand under your feet
  • Cafe Alberto - although more expensive but still reasonable priced, is quite known for the Italian food and live band music on weekends.
  • Lina Hotel Coffee house - an outdoor restaurant where you can enjoy the sea breeze and wonderful view of the beach and sunsets. They serve local food at affordable prices.
  • Ashtari - Its elevated location gives one a good view of the lush vegetation and sea. They serve Eclectic/International dishes.
  • Food stalls - seen on side streets where most locals eat. Usually serves noodles and local dishes at very cheap price.
