Indonesians celebrate festivals for four primary reasons: religious, national event, international event, and commemorative. It is somewhat hard to plot in the Grgorian Calendar most of their festivals as they are changeable and dependent on a different timetable. As majority of Indonesia are believers of Islam, most holidays are based on the Hijriah calendar. Added to the numerous religious events are the government proclaimed holidays which may amount to about 13. Because of difficulty and changeability of dates, the festivals for late 2007 and 2008 are given below and shall be updated when deemed necessary:

Kuta Karnival (Sometimes held earlier in June or July to coincide with school holidays)

mid of month :: Ubud Writers and Readers Festival

20th, y 2007 :: Idul Adha (8th, y 2008)
