Hoi An is a small coastal city along South China Sea in central part of Vietnam. Its harbor is the largest in Southeast Asia. Its trading port has been declared by the UNESCO as World Heritage as it still has well preserved structures dating back to 15th to 19th century.

Special Historic Packages are sold by the tourism offices in Hanoi. Buying a ticket of about 75,000 VND will allow ticket holder to visit about 5 historic places usually 1 Old House, 1 Museum, and 1 assembly hall and either of the other historical places in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. You have also the choice of viewing them from the streets and no need to enter if you are not really into antiques and such

Mihn A - Budget lodge closest to the ancient town . Nice and antique looking houses but bathrooms are shared. It is located near the Central Market

Dining Places

Lighthouse Restaurant - Offers good food with good ambiance and good view of the river. A free boat ride is offered from Bach Dang Street to their restaurant in Cam Nam Island. Prices are about average.


Good morning Vietnam - an Italian restaurant serving great food at a slightly higher price compared to other restaurants around the area. Located in 34, Le Loi Street.


Quan Tam Ro - a good place to try local cuisine. They also serve breakfast at a very reasonable price. Location is at 36 Nguyen Cong Tru with tel. # 0510.862.063.
