Highlands of Malaysia
From Wikiasiantravel
When you feel like you need a rest from city life but still want to have the feeling of being on top of things, have a climb to the highlands. A breath of fresh air, a natural ambiance of green surroundings, and a magnificent view of the low lands, experiencing all this doesn't always mean going back into primitive ways as some of the highlands in Malaysia are as developed as the ones below. But still, if you want the solitude of a simple way of life, it does exists in some areas, including in the highest peak of Southeast Asia, Mt. Kinabalu
Jerai - A majestic limestone outcrop that offers serenity, views that relax the eyes and the mind, and forests for adventurous souls. The Sungai Teroi Forest Recreational Park offers picnic areas, lodging, hiking trails. A museum at the peak of the mountain gives valuable information on Malaysian forestry.
Maxwell Hill - also known as Bukit Larut. Just going to this oldest hill station is adventure in itself as lush forests are just along the way. It is about 10 kilometers from Taiping in Perak.
